Maple syrup making is a long held family tradition on Georgina Island. It is a time where family, friends and community come together as one.
Jacob Charles, owner and operator of FNCT, is a third generation Maple Syrup maker and has been enjoying the process for almost thirty years. Taught by his father who was taught by his father before him, Maple Syrup making holds a very traditional significance for Jacob and First Nations People. More than just a tasty treat, the Syrup was used in First Nation communities for bartering, medicine and in the preservation of food instead of salt.
